How To Press A Section Of Hair
There are different ways of pressing hair. This is how I
do it with a pressing comb. This takes places after my
hair has been washed, conditioned, detangled, braided,
and air dried.
Step 1: When pressing a section,
start at the ends of the hair and work your way down
toward the scalp. Start at the ends of the hair. Gently
pull the comb through like you are combing your hair. If
you encounter any knots, remove the comb and work through
the knots with your fingers. Gently pull the comb through
again. Then pull the comb through the hair starting at a
point closer to your scalp.
Step 2: Repeat until you can pull
the comb (gently) through the hair from the scalp to the
ends of the hair. As you do this the hair will be already
turning straight. When you pull the comb through, apply a
small amount of tension while holding on to the ends of
the hair.
Step 3: After you can pull the
pressing comb through the section from the scalp to the
ends of the hair without resistance, give that section a
final press using the back of the comb. To do this, put
the comb in the section of hair and twist it once so that
as you pull it through, the back of the comb is applying
pressure to the hair section.
